Induction Rescheduled

The induction was moved to Thursday instead of Wednesday, so now I'll go into the hospital Wednesday night.  I have mixed feelings about it since I'm really having trouble waiting it out.  Hopefully it won't matter, and Ethan will come before then.  Trying to stay positive...

This is your eviction notice...

I saw this picture on another blog, and thought it totally applied here.

Ethan, I love you, but it's about time you vacate your current residence.  Your lease was up 3 days ago, and yet you continue to occupy your very tiny space, kicking mommy's ribs and stretching her skin and her patience to the max.  Believe me, it will be much nicer out here.  You will be held, fed, and well... you'll pretty much be spoiled rotten by all of your anxious family members.  I would seriously consider moving out soon because otherwise, you will be forced out on Wednesday, and your birthday will forever be April Fool's Day.  This is your final notice.

Another Update...

The doctor's office called to tell me the induction is scheduled for the 1st of April (yes, April Fool's Day).  So I have to see the doctor on the 31st to see what's happening, and if I'm still not dilated, I'll check into the hospital at 7pm, and then they will start inducing at 6am.  Still hoping for him to get moving before then.

Due Date is Tomorrow

And we still have no real progress.  At our appointment today, the doctor said I'm 80% effaced, but not dilated at all.  We talked about the options, and we decided to go ahead and schedule an induction for around the 41 week mark (we don't have the exact date yet).  If that happens, we'll see the doctor the day before to check things, and if no or little dilation, I'll spend the night in the hospital with some meds, and then start the induction process the next morning.  However, the doctor seemed to think I will go into labor before then anyway.  We'd love for him to be right.  He also happens to be the doctor on call this weekend, so maybe it's meant to be.  As we left, he said he'll probably see us this weekend.  So send us lots of 'go into labor' dust and keep us in your thoughts.  Hopefully we'll have an outside baby by the end of the weekend.

A watched pot never boils...

That's exactly how I feel right about now.  A lot of people are asking how I'm doing and is anything happening, and I hate to disappoint, but nothing has changed.  Strangers have been asking me when I'm due a lot lately, and when I tell them I get huge-eyed surprised looks and a "Seriously?"  Am I not supposed to be out in public when I'm that close or something?  Should I be on the couch doing nothing except waiting?  Believe me, that would be nice, but it would also drive me nuts.  I feel lucky to have so many people concerned about me though.  We really do have great family and friends.

As for "The List," it is done.  Cory is finishing up the grout project tonight (just wiping it down one final time), but otherwise, we really have nothing left to do.  A co-worker of Cory's told him that once the list is finished, the baby will come.  So maybe tomorrow?  We'll see.  We promise to call everyone once things get started, or have someone call you, so keep your phones close.  Otherwise, I'll update after our doctor's appointment on Wednesday.

39 weeks...

... and still nothing to report.  I'm effaced (not sure what %), but no real dilation.  They still say it could happen quickly though, and anytime now.  Our doctor will be back on Friday, so I keep saying I'm planning to go into labor then.  We'll see if Ethan cooperates.

In other news, the hospital bags are packed.  Don't know why it took so long, but it's done, although I have a sneaking suspicion I won't need it because I'll have to be induced and will have time to pack, but that's just a hunch.  Still need to get the car seat in the car, but we're making progress.

We'll keep you posted.

Getting closer...

Nothing new to report except that I've definitely hit that point where I don't want to do anything. I'd say that I've been pretty lucky so far. I'm usually pretty energetic, nothing has been too painful, etc. However, in the last few days, I've been so tired. I'm now uncomfortable 75% of the time when I'm sitting, standing, walking, laying, driving, working (I think you get the point). I've also started to get the pain in the ribs where it feels like Baby may have bruised them. So, I'm just trying to take it easy and not complain too much.

We're still super excited, and it's becoming more "real" every day. We've packed most of the hospital bag and Cory is getting the cameras ready. We also took the BIG trip to BabiesRUs and picked up some necessities we hadn't gotten. Hopefully, we won't be back there in a while, but I have a feeling we will. We still need to install car seat bases in our cars. Everything is really coming together though.

I'll leave you with a picture we took last night with Avery. He likes to lay on the "shelf" sometimes.

38 Week Appointment

I wish there was something exciting to report, but I got nothing. Dr. said everything still looks great, but there's no progress toward labor yet. He did tell me that he doesn't like to let people go more than a week overdue, so that means Baby should be here by April 2 at the latest. We're all just trying to hang in there and be patient. Our Dr. is actually out of town next week, so I'm okay waiting until he's back. Our next appointment is next Wednesday, so we'll give you another update then.

Sonogram Videos

Just a short post to give everyone the link to our sonogram videos.

Home Projects

Back in January we woke up to a little flood downstairs that originated from the half-bath. Apparently roots had grown into the drain pipe that runs to the street and caused a backup. So it ruined a lot of carpet and we had to take it all out. Bright side is, we decided to go ahead and upgrade to hardwood floors. After a long process of water clean-up and then floor installation, they look great. We thought we'd post some pictures for those who haven't been over to see it yet.

We also had a little mini-remodel done in the half-bath downstairs. It all started with Cory coming out of the restroom saying, "That faucet in there is really ugly." Me: "Yep. And the sink looks like it belongs in an elementary school bathroom next to a urinal." Next thing you know, Cory does some research, we end up at Home Depot with our friend Don, and we come home with a new sink that we proceed to install (at 9pm on a Wednesday night). I think it's proof that men can "nest" too.

Here's the boys working:

And here's the finished product:

Someday we'll get a medicine cabinet that matches or paint the one we have, but we love the sink.

Shower

I promised a baby shower post, so here it is.  Our shower was on the 28th and it was great.  I felt a little guilty making my aunts plan yet another shower since we just got married and had a bridal shower last May.  But they came through as usual, and it was so nice to see everyone.  Plus, the food was from Pluckers and my mom made an awesome cake.

We probably got close to our home's capacity with all the guests, but it never felt crowded.  We appreciated everyone coming and had lots of fun catching up with people we hadn't seen much since I've been pregnant.  It was also nice to show off the nursery, and especially helpful to have a deadline to get the nursery finished by (seriously, up late the night before finishing).

Of course, there were also gifts.  Scratch that - a TON of gifts.  We seriously know the most generous people in the world.  It really eased a lot of stress knowing we would not go broke buying necessities for the baby.  Afterward, we felt okay about the baby coming whenever he's ready because we are now prepared.  So thanks to everyone for hanging out and for everything you gave us!  We can't tell you how much we love and appreciate you!

Here are some pictures of the fantastic day:

Thanks again everyone!

Oh, almost forgot.  Cory's office threw us another awesome shower on the 3rd.  They had so many great things to eat, and it was so nice to meet his coworkers.  They were also very generous and gave us even more great gifts.  We thanked everyone with homemade chocolate chip cookies and of course thank you notes.  So thanks to everyone at Capitol Services too!

"Get It Done" Weekend

We've had a lot of things on our to-do list lately, whether it be baby-related or not.  I guess we got to the point where we thought "Oh crap, we only have two to three weekends left before Baby get here" (we hope we have that long anyway).

So Friday we decided to use the Target gift cards to buy some things we still need and haven't received for Baby.  We picked up a Boppy, some sleepers, wipes, burp cloths, etc.  And then on Saturday, my wonderful mom (aka Super-Grandma-to-Be) surprised us with the Pack n Play we didn't get.  So now we have one more trip to BabiesRUs to pick up a few more things.  We are anxiously awaiting our 15% off registry completion coupon.

Saturday we had a wedding so we didn't get much done.  I was proud that I pulled off dancing in high heels at 37 1/2 weeks pregnant, though.  Not to mention I didn't have to waste money on a maternity dress because I improvised with the contents of my closet.  We had fun at possibly one of our last nights out as a baby-free couple.

Today we decided to get a little yard work done and create some flower beds in the front yard.  They look great now, and we hope we can keep them that way for a while.  While I did that, the great Dad-to-Be put together Baby's stroller and swing and figured out how to use them.  Then I gave Avery (the dog) a hair cut, and proceeded to create the perfect pillow combination for an evening on the couch with my feet up while Cory played volleyball.

Next on the list is getting our hospital bags packed and installing the car seat.  We'll see what's on the list for next weekend.

Nursery

So I finally got some recent pictures of the nursery on my computer and thought I'd share.

We've added a couple of more things to the shelf and we still need a changing pad for the dresser.
This is the glider we got 50% off at Babies R Us and a bookcase we already had.  The bins have hats, shoes, washcloths, and bibs.  The lanterns are left over from our wedding.  Oh, and the stuffed animal on the chair is Hug-a-lot.  He's my favorite and I actually got him on the day I was born from my grandma.
And this is the crib from Babies R Us that my grandparents bought for us and art from art.com.
That's it for now.  Hope you like it.  It's actually getting fuller by the day.  We've received so many things from our generous family and friends.  Thanks everyone!

37 Weeks

Not much to report on this weeks appointment.  Everything still looks good and dr. thinks baby will probably be on time (or late... ick).

I'll post soon about our wonderful showers this past week as well as nursery picks (it's finally done).
