My version of going to the pumpkin patch...

I did think of actually going to a real pumpkin patch, but it never happened. So my version started when Rebecca (the 10 year old I nanny for) said she needed one for school today. This happened yesterday:

Becca: Oooh, Amy, we need to stop by Randall's and get me a pumpkin.
Me: Can't your parents take you tonight?
Becca: No, they're both out of town today, and if I don't have one, I can't participate in the party tomorrow. (We're going to ignore the part about me not knowing her parents were both out of town. Seriously? They don't think to tell me that?!? Anyway..)
Me: Okay, we'll stop I guess.
Becca: Do YOU have one? You know, baby's first pumpkin, you have to get a picture of that.
Me: ::mommy guilty face::

So I bought a pumpkin, and this morning I plopped it on the deck with Ethan. I really didn't think the kid would notice if he had a pumpkin or not, but I guess I should at least take a picture like everyone else does. So here's mine:

I think I should at least get bonus points for putting him in a cute hat.

E met Kathy!!

My good friend and former roommate Kathy finally made her way to Texas from the extreme coldness of Minnesota and met Ethan for the first time. She was here for recruiting at UT, but we had the chance to hang out a few times in order to fulfill her cravings for good Mexican food and Pluckers. I seriously don't know how she lives without those two things, not to mention the lack of good bbq, all the snow, no HEB, and lots and lots of snow. Come on Kathy, move back to Texas!! Anyway, here's a couple pictures of us from the week:

6 month stats

I actually forgot to post this... twice. I had it all typed up but needed to get some pictures of the camera, so I saved it, and forgot about it. Sorry. Stinkin internet has been on and off so that has something to do with it. It only works when it feels like it. I'm waiting for the time warner man as I type this. Hopefully he'll be able to fix it and my blogging will be back on schedule soon. Truth is, the internet excuse is only part of the reason I'm so behind. Anyway, here's the post and only 3 weeks late.

Oops, forgot to post these from E's appointment last week. So he now weighs 16 pounds 12 ounces, which is just under the 50th percentile, and he is 27 inches long, which is the 50th-75th percentile. He went down in his height percentile, and slightly down in his weight percentile. Doc said it's okay though and pretty typical since he's started moving around a lot more and is eating solids, which have less calories that formula. We were a little nervous because his eating habits pretty much suck. He had been fighting us a lot during bottle feedings, but just a few days ago we got faster flowing nipples so he's been eating a lot better.

Other 6 month things Ethan's up to:

He loves to laugh. H's ticklish under his neck, on his belly, his feet, and his thighs. He especially like it if you kiss these areas. Giggle machine I tell ya. He also still likes "doo doo" and scolding Avery and to be scared/surprised. All make him laugh. Oh, and Crazy Uncle Don's faces, he must be really funny looking.

Ethan still likes his walker, jumperoo, and exersaucer. He can get around a little too well in his walker. Some examples of what he's been getting into:

The night light had to be moved

Key table was knocked over.

He likes to follow me into the kitchen

Just a cute droolly picture.

"Oooh, camera, that could fit in my mouth"

Remember how I said I may be kicking myself for getting the walker? Yeah, that's happened a little. But since it entertains him for hours, I can put up with it.

Because he likes his standing up toys so much, he doesn't get a lot of blanket time, but he is starting to scoot around a little, mostly in circles. He can pull on up his knees and his arms, just not at the same time. Not too worried about that, we don't need a crawler quite yet. He's still a roly-poly though, and keeping him on a blanket and off the hard floors can be a challenge.

Ethan's also still interested in the tv, and the remote, and cell phones. Loves them all, and wants to put the latter two in his mouth. I've been using the remote and cell phone as bait when he's on his belly. Why I do this I have no clue. Didn't I just say we don't want a crawler yet??

Okay, and other things I want to remember: he's wearing his 6-9 month clothes, but mostly because those are the only warm ones he has. He can still fit into his 3-6 as long as you're okay with pants being more like capris. He's sleeping very well, usually from 8:30pm to 8:30am. He usually always gets up around 8-8:30, so if he gets to bed late, he gets a little less sleep. Oh, and he loves his duckie tub. He likes it when we pour water over his hands or onto his belly. Bathtime is a fun time.

That's all I can think of now. Hope it wasn't too boring for you.

6 months old

Sorry this one's a bit late folks, we've been a little busy. Perhaps more on that to come, but on a happy note, cute baby pictures. They were technically taken at 6 months and 2 days, but I doubt the monkey changed that much. Maybe a little more hair, he seriously seems to be getting more of that every minute...

A little background on the photo shoot: E was cracking up the entire time. He really thinks the dog is funny, especially when we scold him. He giggles when we tell Avery "no" or "get in your bed Avery." However, his favorite is when we say "Get off my blanket Avery!" This is a particularly common one for us because we're always trying to keep Av off Ethan's blanket. It never works, but E thinks it's hilarious, so we used it to get some great smiles during his photo shoot. Unfortunately, I also get a giggle when I tell Ethan no (as in no pinching or be gentle). This is not a good sign, but we'll worry about that later, on to the cuteness.

He was showing off his sitting ability, but it was a little hard because of the uncontrollable laughter.

LOVE this one of him cracking up

His 6 month check-up is tomorrow, so I'll try to post soon with his stats and some updates (more for me to remember than for your entertainment, sorry). Take care!

Petting Zoo

On Sunday we went to my aunt and uncles church for the fall festival. We won a cake at the cake walk, but no money :( and I haven't heard any news about the raffle, so I'm guessing we didn't win. Again.

Oh well, at least we went to the petting zoo. Having E was sort of an excuse for me to go in. Last year, when I was pregnant, I really wanted to pet the cow. Ever since I was a little girl, I wanted a pet cow. Why? Who knows. What would I even do with a pet cow? Sit in the pasture and talk to it I guess. Too bad I didn't live near a pasture. So petting a cow was pretty appealing to me, but I figured I would get some pretty funny looks walking around with a bunch of toddlers petting animals. Enter Ethan, the perfect excuse to go play with the animals. Of course, I thought he'd enjoy it too. He gets a kick out of the dog anyway. So here's Ethan checking out the animals.

Mommy gets to meet the cow

I have to admit, I was a little scared of the rooster.

Hanging with Daddy in the mei tai

With his godfather David

That's all I got. I should have some more interesting things to share soon, since E's 6 MONTHS OLD tomorrow!!
